SURFACE PREPARATION – GENERAL

All surfaces must be sound, dry, clean, and free of oil, grease, dirt, rust, mildew, paint and other foreign substances.

BARE SURFACES

If new, allow to cure 28 days minimum. Remove any loose aggregate, scrub with cleanser, rinse and allow to dry. Apply two to three coats, depending on porosity.

PREVIOUSLY COATED SURFACES

All loose or peeling paint should be scrapped or wire brushed. If paint is severely peeling, remove all old coating. Then prepare as described above. Do not apply over epoxy or unknown finishes.

APPLICATION

Use a premium quality 3/8” roller cover suitable for water-based paints. Do not thin. Roll evenly. Do not apply too heavily. Apply when the surface temperature is above 50˚F, and with humidity below 80%. Delay if rain is expected with 24 hours. Spot prime on previously coated surfaces. Two coats are generally recommended. Gloss will be affected by the number of coats and porosity of the surface.
